Understanding and Relating to Your Anger
The following is a detailed outline of what is covered in the anger management course:
Workshop Objectives:
Day One – To become aware of and identify anger in terms of: 1) experience; 2) triggers; 3) appraisals
➢ Conceptually define anger and how it functions in our experience
➢ Become aware of and incrementally identify anger both emotionally and physiologically
➢ Identify the experience of anger via its measurable component parts
➢ Become aware of and identify your personal anger script
➢ Become aware of and identify our triggers and how we appraise situations that initiate and/or contribute to the anger experience
➢ Become aware of and identify one’s stage in relation to behavioral change and obstacles to making such change
Day Two – To become aware of and identify anger expression in terms of: 1) its origins; 2) short term goals; 3) long term consequences
➢ Become aware of and identify the connection of how anger is expressed to how it was modeled for us.
➢ Make explicit the non-verbal communication related to how anger is expressed
➢ Become aware of various long term consequences related to certain anger expression
➢ Become aware of personal communication style
➢ Learn opposite action principles, interpersonal assertiveness, self-soothing strategies, and relapse prevention strategies.
