"You are beautiful...when you let friends have their space, when you believe, when you laugh, or are moved to tears, when you let it just roll right off your back, when you talk about your dreams, when you help a turtle across the road, when you try to do the right thing even when it comes out wrong, when you love." Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible. Virginia Satir

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find it is those who, instead of advice, solutions or cures have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

When life seems chaotic, you don't need people giving you easy answers or cheap promises.  There might not be any answers to your problems.  What you need is a safe place where you can bounce with people who have taken some bad hops of their own. You need love and understanding and lots of room

Almost all Nobel laureates in the sciences are actively engaged in arts as adults.  They are twice as likely as the average scientist to be a photographer; four times as likely to be a musician; eight times more likely to do woodworking or some other craft; twelve times more likely to write poetry and literature; seventeen times as likely to be an artist; and twenty-five times as likely to sing, dance or act.

For some of us who spend waaaay too much time in our heads thinking about things, there is food for thought here.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hi folks...I'm back in town from a wonderful week away exploring the world...I'll be back blogging in a day or so! :)

The real power behind whatever success I have now was something I found within myself -- something that's in all of us, I think, a little piece of God just waiting to be discovered.

Once we believe in ourselves,
we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight,
or any experience that reveals the human spirit.

I love life...Yeah, I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm really happy that something could make me that sad.  It's like...it makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before.  So I have to take the bad with the good.  So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.
